The second meeting of owners, breeders and funs of Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers took place in Prague, last
weekend of May. There were lot of events. Here are my personal comments about it.
Our foreign guest Mrs. Louise Borst-Borreman started Friday meeting with breeders and owners. She is long time
breeder and judge of Wheatens. Her opinions about strict following of FCI standard are well known worldwide.
On her speach she took some important points from standard and talked about them. On her opinion it is not only
soft, silky warm wheaten coat, but also substance of working terrier, good gait, temperament.
Historicaly first independent Special klub show of Wheatens, called Wheaten Show 2006 started on Saturday morning.
After quite late comming Mrs. Louise started her judging of 52 entered Wheatens. This number is the biggest in
the Czech Republic and also in countries around. So it was hard competition. Judging was strict, lot of dogs got
different result from excellent. How were the results of us, "Wheaten Darlings"? Winning of Pamppy (Glendree Pamppy from
Breenagh) in champion class of eight females is amazing success. She became later best female, what was realy a dream.
But I realy did not expect her final winning and title Best of Breed! I am very proud of it, it is big honour.
But it is also bug problem, as I understood from immediate reactions of people around.
Some or lot of or most of Czech Wheaten people think, I have paid for winning of my female! How silly!
Of course in this case, as it should be in all shows, judge did not have catalogue before judging and my co-owned
female was showed by someone unknown. When I think about other results of dogs from my kennel Wheaten Darling,
also some of them are again co-owned by me, it was not so BIG success. We got 3 excellents, 5 very goods and 1 good.
Believe me, if I paid, I would have paid for better results! Big honour for me is opinion of Mrs. Louise about my dogs
showed in kennel competition. We got the Best Kennel, because of type of dogs.
Complete results from the Wheaten Show 2006 are here.

Unfortunatelly we were very late for walk with Wheatens through Prague, because of late beginning of the show and
long time judging. Anyway we went through lot of historical places in the center of Prague, people asked about the
breed and all dogs behaved nicely. The aim of the walk - promotion of nice looking and nice behaving antient
Irish dogs was fulfiled.
After the walk we met again with our dogs having dinner and talked a bit. The weather was not more friendly to us and it started to rain
heavily.
All of us wanted to enjoy sporting Sunday. The beginning was perfect with presentation of dog dancing and obedience.
Obedience was showed very nicely by one of our puppies - Cerry Wheaten Darling. He and his owner make nice team.
All dogs started to train agility, obedience and coursing. But the weather! It was raining many times during the day.
Some of the people left earlier. We finished the day with competitions. All our Wheatens were nicely tired, happy
and this was the goal of this day.
Some photos from sport day are here.
We had nice cups thanks to the sponzors, also some other prices. Just my opinion about meeting of "Wheaten people" went
wrong a bit. Tense atmosphere seems to be normal traditional part of meetings. Why does it occur? Seems like we all
have different goals, not just talks about dogs, breeding, puppies, joys and concerns about it. It looks to me, like
more important is hunting for show titles, gossiping. Luckily there were quite a "few normal" people. Most of them do not
belong among breeders, they are having their Wheaten just for joy. And what about breeders?
